Frequently asked questions

What does OCR PDF do?

It recognizes text in scanned pages and adds an invisible searchable text layer while keeping the original page visible.

Will my PDF look different?

It shouldn't. OneDo Hub keeps the original page content and adds searchable text behind it rather than rebuilding the page from OCR. Every changed page is rendered again and compared with the original before you can download it.

Does it OCR pages that already contain text?

By default, no. OneDo Hub detects pages that already have usable text and preserves them.

Which languages are supported?

English, Hindi, Bengali and Tamil. You can combine English with one of the Indian languages for mixed documents.

Is OCR always accurate?

No. Accuracy depends on scan quality, resolution, language and layout. OneDo Hub flags lower-confidence pages for review.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. Recognition runs in your browser.

Does OCR make a PDF accessible?

A searchable text layer can improve usability and assistive-technology access, but OCR alone does not guarantee full PDF accessibility compliance.

What happens to links, forms, bookmarks and signatures?

Links, bookmarks, form fields, comments, attachments and metadata are kept. Adding a text layer modifies the file, so a digital signature will no longer validate — you are asked to confirm first.
