How is my text counted?
Platforms do not all publicly document identical Unicode counting rules. OneDo Hub uses the most appropriate verified method where known and otherwise provides a conservative estimate.

How it works
- Paste your draft once.
- Pick what you're writing (post, bio, title…) and the platforms you use.
- See instantly where it fits — the strictest platform decides “Fits everywhere”.
- If it's too long, see exactly where it goes over, select the overflow or jump to a clean stopping point, then copy or open it in the LinkedIn or Instagram formatter.
Why social platforms have different limits
Each network decides its own limit for each field — an Instagram bio, a LinkedIn post and a YouTube title all differ. Pick your platforms once and the counter compares one draft against all of them, so you know which one needs a shorter version.
Why emoji can be difficult to count
One emoji can be built from several Unicode characters — skin tones, flags and family emoji are joined from parts. It looks like one symbol but some platforms count each part. The “How is my text counted?” panel shows visible characters, code points and UTF-16 units side by side.
Do links count differently?
On X, every link counts as 23 characters no matter how long it is. Other platforms don't document link counting in the same way, so this counter counts the link as typed — a safe estimate.
What's the difference between a hard limit and “See more”?
The hard limit is the most you can post. “See more” is where the app shortens a long post in the feed — your text is still there. First-impression previews here are approximate and are never treated as a limit.
How current are these limits?
Official platform documentation is preferred. Every rule shows whether it is official or observed, when it was last checked and where it came from. Platforms change limits, so rules are reviewed regularly and never changed automatically.
Privacy
Your draft is counted entirely inside your browser. It is never uploaded, stored or sent to analytics — not the text, links, hashtags, mentions or clipboard. Only general events are counted (for example which platforms you picked, whether the draft fits, or that Copy was used). Your platform choice is the only thing remembered on this device.
Supported formats
Type or paste any text: English, Hindi, Hinglish, accented letters, emoji, links, hashtags, @mentions and styled Unicode text.
Frequently asked questions
What is the X (Twitter) character limit?
280 for a standard post and 25,000 for X Premium long posts. X weighs characters: each link counts as 23, and emoji and Chinese, Japanese or Korean characters count as 2. This counter uses X's documented method.
What is the Instagram caption character limit?
Instagram's app allows captions up to 2,200 characters. Only about the first 125 characters show before “more”, so put the important part first.
What is the YouTube title character limit?
YouTube titles can be up to 100 characters and descriptions up to 5,000, according to YouTube Help.
What is the Threads character limit?
Threads posts are limited to 500 characters in the app. This is shown as an observed limit.
Is this 100% exact on every platform?
No counter can promise that. Where a platform documents its counting (X, Bluesky) we follow it. Elsewhere we use a conservative estimate, so a draft marked as fitting should not be rejected for length.
