SSC photo and signature size 2026: CGL, CHSL, MTS and GD

The Staff Selection Commission changed how photos work. In the CGL 2026 and CHSL 2026 notices, your photograph is captured live through the application form or the mySSC app. You no longer resize and upload a passport photo for these exams.
What you still prepare yourself is the scanned signature. SSC asks for a JPEG of 10 KB to 20 KB, about 6.0 cm wide and 2.0 cm high. Blurred or very small signatures are rejected.
Live photo rule
The photo is taken live while you fill in the form: face the camera, no cap or spectacles, full frontal view, good light. A photo of a photo is rejected.

Common rejection reasons
- Signature file below 10 KB or above 20 KB.
- Blurred, faint or tiny (miniature) signature.
- Signature photographed at an angle, with shadows or on lined paper.
- Live photo with a cap, spectacles, a side view or poor light.
- Uploading a photo of an old printed photograph during live capture.
How to prepare your files
- 1Sign in black or dark blue ink on plain white paper. Leave space around the signature.
- 2Take a straight, well-lit photo or scan of it.
- 3Open the Signature Resizer from the button below. The 20 KB limit is already set.
- 4Adjust the crop so the signature fills a wide 3 : 1 box, then download the JPG and check it shows between 10 and 20 KB.

Do I need to upload a passport photo for SSC CGL or CHSL 2026?
