How PDF compression works
Most of a PDF's size usually comes from images. We re-encode large photos and scans more efficiently, shrink images that are far bigger than needed, compress any data stored uncompressed, and remove leftover unused data. Text and drawings are left untouched.
Why some PDFs compress more than others
Scanned documents and PDFs full of photos often shrink by 50% or more. PDFs made of text, or ones already exported with “reduce file size”, have little left to remove — sometimes only a few percent.
How to reduce PDF file size
Start with Quick compression. If a website gives you an upload limit, choose Compress to a size limit and pick that number. To go further, split off pages you don't need with Split PDF, then compress the rest.
Privacy
Your PDF is compressed entirely inside your browser. It is not uploaded to our server, and it is gone when you close or refresh the page.
Supported formats
One PDF up to 100 MB. Very large or image-heavy files may be slow on phones. Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked first.
Frequently asked questions
What will the downloaded file be called?
Your original name with -onedohub.space added, for example certificate-onedohub.space.pdf. Nothing is added to the pages themselves.
Will my text get blurry?
No. Text, fonts and vector drawings are kept as they are — pages are never turned into pictures. Only photos and scanned images inside the PDF are re-encoded.
Can I compress a PDF to 200 KB, 300 KB or 500 KB?
Choose Compress to a size limit and pick 50 KB, 100 KB, 200 KB, 300 KB, 500 KB, 1 MB or type your own. We keep the best quality that lands at or under your limit. If the PDF can't get that small and stay readable, we say so and show the smallest practical result.
What may not be preserved?
Pages, page order, orientation, text and links are kept. Embedded page thumbnails are removed, and images with unusual colour formats (such as CMYK print images) are left unchanged. Digital signatures become invalid because the file is rewritten.
Why didn't my PDF get smaller?
Text-only PDFs and files that were already optimized have little left to remove. In that case we tell you instead of giving you a file that isn't really smaller.
