How to copy text from an image

Text inside a photo is just pixels, so you cannot select it. OCR (optical character recognition) reads those pixels and turns them into text you can copy and edit.

Image to Text recognises printed text in your browser. Results depend on the photo: clear, straight, well-lit print works best, and the text should always be checked.

Step by step

  1. 1

    Choose your images

JPG, PNG, WebP or HEIC, up to 20 images at once. They are not uploaded.

  2. 2

    Pick the text language

Choose English, Hindi, English + Hindi, Bengali or Tamil. The first time you use a language, its reading data loads from OneDo Hub, which can take a moment.

  3. 3

    Extract and check

Click Extract text, then read the result and correct any mistakes in the text box. Faint or blurry parts may be misread or left out entirely.

  4. 4

    Copy or download

Use Copy text or Download TXT. With several images you can download a ZIP of TXT files or create one searchable PDF.

Limitations

Only the five language options above are supported.

This tool is designed for printed text. Handwriting is not supported reliably; check all extracted text before using it.

Blurry, tilted, dark or very small text lowers accuracy.

Have a scanned PDF instead?

OCR PDF adds a searchable text layer to a scanned PDF while keeping its pages looking the same.
